Alex Blake last week became one of over 1 million recipients worldwide, of a Paul Harris fellowship. This recognition is not taken lightly by  the Rotary Club of
Nambour 76. The contribution to The Rotary Foundation is made because Alex has performed duties over and above what could be normally expected and is dedicated to the ideals of Rotary and its meaning throughout the world.
Rotary was founded by Paul Percy Harris in 1905, just by having a small get together of like minded businessmen of different vocations for a lunch which , when you think of it, was the original forerunner of today's networking. The object was to enjoy their fellowship and be able to give each other support within and for their businesses. Of course the organisation of Rotary now has over 1.2 million members. The foundation upon which rotary is built, is friendship, and this foundation has stood firm since its inception.
The Rotary Foundation was founded in 1957 and is known for its amazing contribution to world health and well being in all countries. We all know about the absolute millions and millions of dollars invested in the eradication of polio throughout the world saving thousands of lives.
The Rotary Club of Nambour 76 has always been a huge supporter of the foundation with our annual members contributions of  100 USD per head to the foundation and we have always seen fit to honor exemplary members of the club and indeed the public at large with a Paul Harris fellowship to the value of 1000 USD.
Alex has been a member of Nambour 76 since 2006 and came to town with his family to begin a new life in a new state. It wasn't very long before the value of networking and forming endearing friendships became very obvious and he was nominated and became a member of our club.
He has held different directorships within the club and accepted nomination to Club President in the years 2011/12 and 2015/16.
Outside the club he has been an integral part of the growth and success of Nambour Chamber of Commerce as well as the political scene. Without his help our Local federal/state MPs  would not be where they are today.
