MINUTES OF  MEETING OF OFFICE BEARERS OF ROTARY CLUB NAMBOUR 76
HELD AT GOLF CLUB NAMBOUR ON WEDNESDAY 29TH MAY 2019
Present:
Gerald Robertson, Bernie Bruton, Helen Turner, Gordon Downing, Graham Robertson, Ross Jackson, Paul Frahm and Bruce Lawton
Apologies were received from Bill Turner, Alex Blake and Vicki Paul.
Minutes:
Moved by Gerald Robertson seconded by Paul Frahm that the minutes of the previous meeting be accepted.
General Business:
The membership night had not been successful.  The publicity was good but the failure of the publicity to bring any visitors was very disappointing.
The Shack
Our involvement with the Shack was discussed.  Bernie was instructed to invite Dale to address us and to bring us up to date with the project as we do regard the project as a very worthy Nambour community benefit.

The rock n roll dance requirements were discussed.  It is in the Blue Book.  The email from Alex Blake is to be circularised by the treasurer to all Rotarians to bring them up to date with the expectations.
Sunshine Hospice
The secretary was instructed to circularise the 7th May letter to all members.
Swap Meet
It was reported that the club would receive something more than $700 to do the car parking.  The date is the 27th July.  It was agreed that the club would do the task.
Treasurer’s Report
The previously circularised treasurers report was briefly discussed. It had been an uneventful period and there were no comments that warranted reporting.  Moved by Bruce seconded by Gordon that the treasurers report be adopted.
Science Summer School
There was a fair bit of discussion about the approach that we had received and about Nambour’s involvement.  During the meeting Helen rang Nambour to see what had happened there. The applications for the students close on Friday the 31st, a couple of days away.
The secretary was instructed to invite the applicant to our next meeting and it was agreed that two or three of the board would interview her before the meeting.  The secretary was also invited to suggest that she and her mother stay for a free meal.
Bob Sellars
Graham had been to see Bob Sellars and was working along with Beryl to obtain from Bob a history of his Rotary involvement going back over the years.
Graham confirmed that Bob had a strong desire to remain as a member of the club rather than perhaps as an honorary member and it was agreed that that club status should remain with Bob.
It was reported that Bob would probably like to come to the luncheon changeover and it was agreed that we would do what we could to make sure that Bob got to the changeover lunch.
Changeover
Gerald announced that the changeover restaurant had been tentatively booked.  The cost is $35 a head.  There was discussion concerning who should be invited and it was decided that that responsibility should rest firmly on the shoulders of the retiring president.
Incoming office bearers
It was agreed that Gordon would continue as secretary, Bruce continue as treasurer and Ross would be the initial president followed by Graham Robertson and then Alex Blake.
Facebook    Bill Turner’s email was tabled.  The Facebook proposal was agreed to.
Next meeting    It was agreed that the next meeting would be in July after the changeover.
Closing.    The meeting closed at 5:40pm.
